THE JOURNEY
7 AM CHOIR ORIGINS
The transformative power of music is a theme that resonates across every community and generation. This has certainly been the experience of the 7.00 am Eucharist congregation at All Saints Cathedral, whose members have witnessed and been part of the remarkable growth of the 7 am choir over the past decade.
The journey began as a deliberate response to the need for a choral ministry that was both relevant and responsive to the changing needs of an evolving congregation, while remaining faithful to the liturgical and musical demands of Anglican worship. From humble choir beginnings where an average of just five members, (including the organist) supported singing at the early morning eucharist, the choir now stands as a vibrant ministry of more than sixty committed singers.
We are deeply grateful to our congregation, whose unwavering encouragement and support have sustained us throughout this journey. Week after week, they brave the early morning cold to join us in worship, corporately sharing in an experience that has become a cherished part of cathedral life. Their enthusiasm has inspired us to strive continually for excellence in service to God.
Today, the choir enjoys a thriving ministry. Our concerts are consistently well attended, and we are regularly invited to sing at midweek services within All Saints Cathedral, as well as at private services and special occasions beyond its walls. Yet, as Scripture reminds us, “Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy name be the praise.” (Psalm 115:1), we remain steadfast in our mission: to live as intentional disciples of Christ and faithful instruments of the Holy Spirit, using the gift of music to glorify God and to draw people ever closer to Him.
